| Tara was only 3 weeks
old when she waddled out of the whelping shed into the sunlight for the
first time in her life. The sweet smelling earth under her paws
seemed to be calling out to her in a very special way. She
succumbed to the urge to sniff along the pasture fence, unafraid as she
purposefully strode farther and farther away from the safety and
security of mom and her littermates. There was just something
about the land which gave her a feeling of serene calmness and security.
Of belonging. But even more than that, it was something acutely
primal and intensely territorial. It was as if creation itself
were calling her name aloud, Tara, Tara... As she firmly planted
her four paws on the rich soil, and proudly raised her head as she stood
intently gazing at the beautiful rolling landscape in the distance, she
knew in that moment that her calling in life was to defend the land, and
everything on it, at all costs. Woof! |

| As she looked at the
setting sun through the mist, something stirred inside of her.
Something instinctual, something primal. She surveyed the area
around her. Something was not right. There was a coyote
howling on a distant ridge. It was in that moment that India knew.
She was a Great Pyrenees, the grandest protector of all animals, and she
had a job to do.
7/12 note: When we had all of the pups in
the living room for their routine deworming at 6 weeks old, India was
the only one in the group that heard some barking outside by another
adult Pyrenees and alerted to it and barked back in response. I was
pretty surprised to see such awareness at this early age. I'm
confident that the Pyrenees guarding instincts will develop in all of
them. but I've got a hunch that India will be an early learner.
The guarding behavior is strongly instinctual in the Great Pyrenees. For
some it clicks in at 8 months of age, and for others maybe 18 months
old. But they all eventually get it.

Maybelle took a firm stance early on concerning the issues of the day.

warning and subsequently the time to fully consider it's consequences,
but little did the harbingers and early planners of war fully suspect
the unintended resulting forces as the people rose to the occasion, and
Maybelle is a force to be reckoned with even by the heartiest of souls.

of the gang. In fact, he's the biggest in the entire litter.
Solid white in color and quite the solid resemblance to his father with
the gorgeous bear face. His mother is quite large as well.
Rhett is destined to blossom into a quite stunning specimen of the Great
Pyrenees breed. He has desires for Scarlett, and she seems to have
a hankerin' for him as well. |

| Ashley had a 'litter
accident' and sadly lost half of his tail. We've nicknamed him
Stub. We've had him in the house with us while his tail heals and
he is recovering very well. He has shown us quite an engaging
personality and temperament. He walks with a certain confidence
and strut in his step, certainly reminiscent of the champion show dogs
in his family tree. He has no fear of vacuum cleaners as they whir
dangerously close. Mom still comes inside to feed him and he
enjoys a few extra treats as well. Yes, he's becoming spoiled!
Because of his accident, we've lowered his price
to $400. He is still covered by our
Health Guarantee just like the other
pups. Oh yes, his coat is solid white in color. |
