1.  General Questions

•  Are Great Pyrenees good with children?
  
   
  Yes, Great Pyrenees are terrific with children.  The following quote, taken from "The Complete Great Pyrenees" by Paul Strang, probably explains it best...
   
  "Certainly no other breed is more ideally suited for the role of child's companion and protector than is the Great Pyrenees.  Perhaps in the joy and carefree abandon of a child, a Pyrenees sees a kindred spirit.  In the company of children he seems sublimely happy whether enjoying a romp, a tussle, a game of tag, pulling some kind of conveyance (i.e. cart) or merely doing nothing but listening to their chatter.  Ever conscious of his own strength, he seems more gentle than the smallest dog, yet, should danger appear in the form of a molesting stranger, thief or trespasser, his deep warning bark is usually enough to handle the situation.  If not, his size, strength and fury most certainly will."
   
•  Can you hold a dog for me?
  
  Yes we can.  We can hold the dog up to 72 hours. Just give us a call, or send us an email, so we know not to sell that dog to anyone else.   If you need the dog held longer, a deposit of $100 will hold your dog for 30 days.  The $100 deposit is applied toward the final purchase.  Look for the button near the dog that you are interested in.
   
•  Can I pay with a Check?  Paypal?  Cash?  Credit Card?

We accept Cash, personal checks, Echecks, certified checks, postal money orders, Paypal, and credit cards (only through Paypal though).

All varieties of checks must clear our bank prior to any animals being transferred to your possession.

•  What are the directions to your ranch?

We are located in south central Tennessee, about 7 miles south east of Fayetteville.  We are near the Tennessee / Alabama state line, just north of Huntsville Alabama.

•  Can you deliver the pups?

Yes we can.  The delivery rate for hand delivered dogs is $1.00 per mile - one way.  Air deliveries are done for a flat rate.  Learn more on our Delivery Information Page.

No deliveries will occur until the dog(s) purchase price, including delivery charges, has been paid in full with cash or cleared funds. 

•  Can you bring the dog(s) for me to see before I make a decision?

Yes we can.  The delivery fees described above are what you can expect to pay, even if you do not purchase a dog. 

No transfer of ownership will occur until the dog(s) purchase price has been paid in full with cash or cleared funds. 

•  What is your mailing address to send a check?

•  What about spaying and neutering?

This is a choice for the new owner to make.

The exception to this are the rescue animals.  We do occasionally offer rescue animals for adoption and they will usually always be spayed/neutered, or have a contractual obligation (under TN law) for those we obtain from the Humane society or local animal shelters. 
 

•  Where can I find your contract?

We do not have a contract.  Unlike some others, we do not require that you provide us with a puppy from any future litters that you might have.  We do not require access to your property for inspection.  We do not require that you spay or neuter your animal.  We do not require a percentage of any future winnings from dog shows.

 

2.  Questions about making an advance purchase

•  How much is the deposit for a pup?

A deposit of $100.00 reserves a puppy.  Your deposit is applied toward the purchase price of the dog.  In most cases your deposit is considered nonrefundable. 

•  When is my deposit refundable?

1. If we fail to produce a litter for you to select from within 60 days, your deposit is completely refundable.  You may also choose to leave your deposit intact for the next available litter.  This typically places you higher on the list of customers and may give you first pick on the next litter.  A new 60 day window of time is given to you.
2. If none of the pups remaining in a litter after other customers have purchased pups, are of the sex (male/female) you requested (by the end of your 60 day period), then you are entitled to a refund.  You may also to leave your deposit intact as described above.
3. You will not be required to accept any puppy which has any noticeable health problems.

•  Can I have pick of the litter?

Pick of the litter, more commonly thought of as being entitled to be the first person to select a pup from a litter, is done strictly on a first come - first serve basis.  It works like this...  The first person to make a deposit for an advance purchase of a puppy will be the first entitled to select a puppy from the litter.  The second person has second choice etc.. 

•  Can I specify whether I want male or female?

Yes, you can.  Additionally, we are obligated to produce a healthy puppy of the sex you desire within 60 days or your deposit is completely refundable.

•  Can I specify markings?

No you may not.  At least not as far as your deposit is concerned.  However, you are certainly free to choose a puppy with whichever markings you might desire, or choose to defer your purchase until a later litter is available.  Your deposit remains intact (usable) for up to a year. 

Some of our bitches are more likely to whelp pups with badger markings than others, but even some or all of those pups in any given litter can have solid white coats, or badger marked, or some of both in each litter. 

•  What if I don't like any pups in the litter?

You can decline to purchase any of the puppies in any litter, for any reason, and wait to see if any future litters produce a puppy with the traits or markings you desire.  Your deposit can remain intact (usable) this way for up to a year. 

•  Will you send me a photograph of the litter?

Yes we will.  We will let you know when a litter is born, and send you photos to help assist you in choosing your puppy.  You can change your decision once you see the pups in person and choose another pup to take home, as long as the pup is available.  You are always welcome to come see the pups in person if you desire.

•  How long do I have to decide?

By four weeks of age the pups are usually exhibiting their permanent characteristics.  We ask that whoever has pick of the litter make their selection around then so that other customers can begin making their choices from the remaining available puppies.    

•  How will I know when my pup is ready to be picked up?

Six weeks of age is about the earliest a pup should leave its mother.  Some feel that is too soon.  You may need to milk feed a pup that young.  Eight weeks of age is considered by most to be a more suitable age.

•  Will my pup be up to date on shots?

Absolutely.  We pride ourselves here at Pyrenees Ranch on the way we maintain the health of our animals.  That's why we are the only breeder to offer a full one year Health Guarantee.

•  Will my dog be up to date on shots?

Absolutely.  We pride ourselves on the medical treatment provided to our animals.  In addition, we will provide you with a medical history report (see sample) showing dates of treatments. 

•  What if my pup gets sick or dies?

These questions are answered in a general way on the page describing our Health Guarantee.  The details are further described on our Kennel Medical Policy page.  Look for the section titled "Health Guarantee Details (The fine print)".

•  Can you tell me more about the 30 Day Health Guarantee?

We are confident that every Great Pyrenees sold from our ranch is in excellent health.  And we back it up with a written guarantee.  There is no cost or charge to you.

The basic health guarantee basically says that we will either pay your vet bill for a sick animal, up to the purchase price, or give you a full refund of your purchase price.  Which option you choose is up to you.  More details can be found on our Health Guarantee page.

•  Can you tell me more about the One Year Health Guarantee?

An additional one year health guarantee is provided to you free of charge.  This guarantee is an extension of the 30 day Health Guarantee.  But for it to be effective, you must continue proper medical treatment when needed for the animal.  It is our way of encouraging you to continue to provide the best for your Great Pyrenees.

•  Can you tell me more about the Perfect Fit Guarantee?

We offer a full 100% refund on every animal for 90 days, for any reason whatsoever.  No questions asked.  We call it our "Perfect Fit Guarantee". 

•  Can you tell me more about the Lifetime Guarantee?

If, for any reason, you find that you are unable to care for your Pyrenees, we will be happy to take the dog back. We offer FOREVER HOMES here at Pyrenees Ranch.

•  Exactly how much do all of these guarantees cost me?

Absolutely nothing.  All of our guarantees are provided at no additional cost to you.
